The 10th anniversary of the installation of Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar III as the Sultan of Sokoto has been scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 2 2016. This is according to
Alhaji Danladi Bako, the Kogunan Sokoto and the chairman of the Publicity Subcommittee of the Local Organizing Committee of the event, in a signed statement.
Bako said that an International Symposium on the legendary Sokoto
Caliphate has will to take place in Sokoto, on Wednesday, November 2. The symposium which will focus on ''The caliphate's contributions to
the economy, politics, leadership and good governance in the sub-Saharan region'' will feature ''renowned local, national and international
scholars''.
Furthermore, the statement said that,
there will be a presentation on the proposed Nana Asma'u College of Medical
Sciences at the symposium.
The
statement further stated that, there will be a cultural night to showcase the
rich cultural heritage of the Caliphate, scheduled for Thursday, November 3.
'' On Friday, November 4, special prayers for
sustainable peace in the state, Nigeria and the world will be conducted.
'' On Saturday, November 5 and grand finale
of the epoch-making event, there will be grand durbar to feature thousands of
horse riders,'' the statement, added.
It urged the people of the state, to strive
to cooperate to make the event hitch-free and historic.
