Despite the controversies sorrounding the emergence of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as PDP chair, the former governor of Borno state has taken charge of the affairs of the party. These controversies range from the alledged imposition of the Senator by the PDP governors' forum to his alledged link with the terrorist sect, Boko Haram, as championed by the former aviation minister, Femi Fani Kayode (FFK).
Performing the hand over ceremony, the outgoing acting chairman, Uche Secondus urged Senator Sheriff to unite the party and work with the youth. While promising to reach out to aggrieved members of the party, the new chair noted that no competent court of the land has affirmed his link to Boko Haram, saying that such allegation is a figment of the immagination of the 'righteous'. He further threatened to drag to court, any person or persons that is plotting to tarnish his image.
In a swift reaction, FFK had this to say: “we are more than ready to meet Senator Ali Modu Sheriff in court. It
would be a pleasure to expose him for what he is. The days of
intimidating, silencing and threatening others are long over. “If sheriff is a Goliath, let him be rest assured that he has finally
met his David. Needless to say we stand by everything that we have
said,” he added.
