According to reports in Sweden, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to move to Manchester United this summer.
However,
intriguingly, the iconic forward will not just be featuring at Old
Trafford in a playing role next term, but will also take on the
assistant manager’s job with the Red Devils.
Swedish source Sportbladet
insist that—thanks to insider information from figures close to the
legendary hitman—he will be part of Jose Mourinho’s new coaching team
once the Portuguese manager replaces Louis van Gaal.
Presumably,
Zlatan will be replacing Ryan Giggs, with the Welshman understood to be
unprepared to remain at the club in an assistant role and keen to strike
out on his own and begin building his own legacy elsewhere.
While
the prospect of Zlatan—who worked with Mourinho at Inter
Milan—featuring on the Old Trafford touchline alongside the ex-Chelsea
coach is a tantalising one.
Don’t be surprised to see the veteran
attacker feature heavily on the pitch next term, with the striker having
scored an astonishing 38 goals in 31 Ligue 1 appearances for champions
PSG this term.
