All is certainly not well within the ruling APC in spite of the public show of unity being put up by the party’s leadership to assure members and Nigerians.
The turmoil within has again made the party shift its date for a formal meeting of its Board of Trustees (BoT) earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday, March 22 to Thursday, March 31.
National Secretary of the party, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, who spoke on
the shift in date on Saturday, however assured that the meeting of the
party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) will still take place on
Thursday, March 24 as scheduled.
The inauguration of the BoT has continued to drag five months after the party announced its composition. Embattled National chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun
had on resumption from his vacation announced the previous dates for the
BOT and NEC meetings. But Buni said, the “NEC is scheduled to hold on Thursday, March 24 and BoT on March 31”.
There are however indications that the new date for the Bot meeting
may still be shifted again as there have been complaints by some of the
party leaders that they were yet to be formally invited to the meeting.
One of the leaders said, “Normally and in line with provisions of the
constitution of the APC, members of the party’s BoT or NEC are to be
formally notified of the meetings of the organs two weeks before the
date but this has not been done,” he said.
Also, another meeting of the party’s national caucus earlier scheduled for Monday has also been shifted from Tuesday.
